2.73 in a 12 bolt
I have a 12 bolt in my garage waiting to be put in, it has 3.73 in it. I bought it used so i didn't have the choice with the combo. Well i have looked on this forum and found that with the stall i have i wouldn't pick up much more than a tenth. With the gas prices that we are having i don't see the plus side of the 3.73s. So i am wandering does someone make 2.73s for a 12 bolt? I have looked but havn't had any luck.

2.73 to 3.73 is worth a little more than .1. 3.23s to 3.73 are .1 or less.
You won't gain a huge amount of gas mileage unless you do a lot of highway driving. I believe that 3.08s are available and I would not drop below 3.42 if the car is not used as a long distance cruiser.

The only 2 series gears that were made were OE GM (USGear circa 1965-1969).
I have two sets of 2.73's and a single set of 2.56. I normally reserve these for my land speed clients..... but they already got'em done !! So, If your considering that ratio, you will need a gear set and you will need a carrier. Of which I have 2, 2 series Eaton cases left. Talk about a rare case.....
I myself would use a more readily available 3.23. Anything lower and other adjustments need to be made.
