sorry but how would you not have hit the guy if the tires locked up? when tires lock you slide, you dont stop fast. abs stops the tires from locking therefore you can stop faster

I had a to do a panic stop in my old 91 5.0 mustang. Turned the wheel to avoid hitting a car that ran a red light, but sense the wheels were locked it just kept pushing straight into the side of 'em . Same thing happened in a BMW I was driving except this time it involved to much speed and a rather large stalled truck on the other side of a hill !! Slammed on the brakes ABS kicked in and I steered around it.
Firm believer in ABS systems but of course you can drive without them, they just don't let the wheels lock up so you can steer around stuff in wet or panic type situations.

Your car will function as if it had no ABS and it will drive and brake just fine.
Your dash light will come on and the system will be disabled. The ABS system in our cars contains the Electronic Proportioning, so leave all the under hood stuff in place unless you plan on getting an adjustable proportioning valve, new lines etc..
I was just pointing out that ABS systems do in fact work, and was just sharing some of my experiences.
You can't react as fast as a computer. ABS is on there for a reason, but you will probably never need it.
BTW these guys are discussing it https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes/367185-how-shut-off-abs.html

Theres no way to shut off the rear sensor with LS1 edit and leave the front ABS functional?

It's an all or nothing deal.
Go into the break forum and check out the guy selling an "abs delete kit." If your racing it will clean up your engine bay, save weight etc.. The magic is the proportioning valve, without it the brake bias is all off.
Your abs inop light will stay on. tape over it or something if it bothers you
BTW..
Did you see the pictures of the home brewed ford rear with the 3/channel setup
To clairfy; IF you unplug your rear sensor you lose all ABS functions, but your breaks will work just fine.
