Default What gears do you guys recommend and why?

I have a 2000 C5 with an M6. I have roughly 450whp and will have 150 dry shot on it next year some time. I'm having a new rear diff. installed and want to go with 3:73's or 3:90's. What gears would you guys use and why?

Need your peak power, and shift rpm, tire diameter, and your intensions with the car.

I'd almost lean toward the 3.73s in your case, being a lighter car.

i'd vote 342. with that kind of hp, every gear would pull hard and offer some duration of it...

400rwhp at 6500 with 315/35's on 17inch wheels (not including 150dryshot not yet installed). I shift at about 6600-6700rmps. My intentions are strait line acceleration and the ability to drive it around once in a while! I figured 3:73's would be good but may be to small of a difference from my current 3:42's.

3.90's would rock. Not to mention that your shift recovery point would be planted right in back in your peak power band. You'll also get the chassis up to wheel speed quicker, which means getting into the next gear sooner...... and the faster you can spin the wheels....... the quicker and faster you go.

Especially with an M6........

I used to do alot of 4.10's with the M6. Great light to light performance...... and with the 2x OD, it was still completely driveable on long trips.
