Default 4.10 gears and T56?

Hey guys I have a T56 and a 4.10 geared rearend. I have read old post and many say the 4.10s are only for cars with low power. What do you think? I have a 454 in front of my T56 and Im concerned the 4.10 gears is not what I should have. anyone here running high power/T56/4.10 gears?

Depending on what kind of power you're putting out, the 4.10's may be too short. Even with my stock LS1, 2nd gear was damn short on the 1/4. If you've got the power band to make up for the increase in rpm drop, I'd go a little bit longer gear.

Well the 454 I have right now is like 5,500rpms. When I rebuild it to a 496 I was thinking about 6000 is a safe level for BBC right?
