3.73's and I'm getting great mileage?
I don't know why, but I'm getting better mileage now than I did with the stock 2.73's. The gears are the last change I made, so it's not like new plugs and wires or exhaust helped. All I can think of is that since I'm cruising at a higher rpm, there's less load on the motor?
I got almost 260 miles out of my last tank, and the 98 tanks are supposed to be like a gallon smaller than 99+
Btw, the 3.73's kick *** in every other aspect.

I just got my gears done and got close to my highway mileage, but about70 miles at 55mph zone helped out that mileage. I went 205 miles on about 7 gallons. I'm really happy with the 3.73s but the shop hasn't done my speedo and I'm going to have them dyno tune, recalibration of the speedo, and shift points all at once.

I had a trip to San Atone on that last tank, average about 20 mpg.

Glad you are happy with getting 20MPG!
In another thread I was just pointing out that a 3.42 to 3.73 difference apparently yields about 5MPG difference at highway speeds.
(For me that wouldn't be acceptable, since it's my daily driver, but it's not my car, and I'm sure you can haul ***! )

I guess I just expected a bigger hit in the mpg than I've seen so far.

I can totally understand thinking the hit would have been bigger.
(My truck still only gets 11mpg.)
If yer building a hell bent bitch, then by all means, fuel economy shouldn't be worried about!
