Default 8.8 Swap?

I know that there used to be a company that sold everything to do an 8.8 swap in an F-bod, but I can't seem to find them....I heard that they closed, but couldn't get a solid answer....

Does anyone know where I can get the stuff to do an 8.8 swap and/or the info on the swap?

Thanks,

-Will

Do a search. I've seen quite a few threads on the 8.8 in here. I've heard of a lot of people having problems with most of them. That's kinda sad to cause the 8.8 was a good rear. I think most of the problems come from welding the torque arm mounts to the rear.

i bought a housing from a guy in canada, who is a member on here, CAM, i put the 31 spline moser axles, detroit trutrac, 4.11, t/a cover, tcs, abs, and billet 1350 yoke. bolted right in and i am 100% very pleased with it, i believe he made 3 of the housings and am not sure if he is still making them, but PM him, his name is mike. mine has held mid to upper 1.4 60' times and is begging for more.

P.S. Will this is David from the coast UR LOZN

Add an asterisk -------> * to the end of whatever you're searching for, and it'll do it

BTW, thanks for the details on the 8.8...

I'd agree i've owned one. I'd go with a 9 inch much cheaper and stronger.

well. i built mine myself, just had CAM make me the housing and it bolted directly in, and from the research i have done, there is less drivetrain loss of horsepower than both the 12 bolt or the 9". i am very happy with my 8.8 and parts arent that unreasonable.

what kind of abuse have this guy CAM's 8.8 been thru? my 8.8 was breakin at low 1.6 60" if i remember correctly his TA design looked just like the one that took a dump on mine.
got any close up pics of the TA bracket?

my 8.8 has held consistent 1.50,1.51, and has seen a few in the mid 1.4's. i have about 150 passes on it, or more and it is begging for more. his torque arm design is probably pretty common design, but talk to him and he will explain the differences in his, he uses a different type of welding rod to displace the carbon in between the two pieces being welded together, in turn making it stronger. i am fixing to put heads on the car and am hoping for low to mid 1.4's on the spray. check out hte link i posted above and it has a few pics of the rear end and a couple of the torque arm. Mike(CAM) is a great guy and very nice to deal with, he was always there if i had any questions. just a little info on my car, it weighs around 3700 with me in the car, and is still pulling 1.4 and 1.5 60' times. that is a lot of damn weight to get moving, so i am very happy with the rear end, and unlike most 12 bolts, mine doesn't whine

Sounds like you got a good rear end. Maybe there is hope for the 8.8. I just went overkill on fixing mine and its been holding up great.
