no spool for 7.5" anyone ever welded the diff?
the weak link in my 10 bolt is not the ring and pinion, my stock 3.42's are still as good as new! its not the axles, i have upgraded to moser hardened axles, no problems there, its the damn differntial that has broken on me for the 3rd time now.
i feel that if they made a spool for the 7.5" 10 bolt, then my worries would pretty much be over with and i wouldnt have to spend $2000+ on a 12 bolt. I have heard of people welding there differntials together, kinda like i guess a generic version of a spool??? would this work if i got the differntial welded together? i don't really care about street ability anymore, its not my daily driver. The car has abs and tc, how would it affect that? what are the ups and down, should i get this done and try it out, if not, please expalin to me why. thanks!

When you make it a solid axle it will be stronger when you go in a straight line but if when you turn thats when the stress of a spool takes its toll. The 7.5" ring gear may not be able to handle the stress of a solid axle around corners, that is why no one makes a spool for it. But I guess you can try and see what happens.

If you're refering to welding the sypder gears together, I've seen a few people do this on a wide variety of cars from an early 80s camaro to a boxy crown vic. It will hold up for some time, but it will eventually break. The guy in the camaro went back after the welds broke and used over 2lbs of wire to weld them back together and I'm not sure if it's still holding together.

my friend and I welded the gears in his diff on a 89 5.0 F-150 it was a short bed 2wd 5spd it was pretty fast for a truck. he had 295's on the rear you could hear the inside tire squeal a little on turns. in a real sharp turn at very low speed like in a parking lot you could really feel it having to "spin" the inside tire it would shake the truck a little. not something I would want to do to my car if I drove it daily
Also it wasn't near as notice able before he put the 295's on it. when it had 235's all around somebody who didn't know it was welded wouldn't have noticed. but once he lowered the rear down to level and put the wider tires on it seemed like they where fighting the front tires. so I'm not sure what it would be like in our cars
