Aluminum.....the A4's tink in reverse....but the insides is dampened w/ almost like cardboard for sound.

I'm not 100% but on the 98-99 cars A4's with the 3.23 gears had aluminums. If you had 2.73's you had steel. M6 cars were aluminum I believe. Not sure if GM changed which driveshafts they were putting in or not.

M6's are aluminum....and they break really easy...actually they will snap in half if you laucnh on a 12bolt rear w/ slicks w/ a 4500 dump of the clutch. <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> Proven by my boyfriend on his 99 T/A <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
