Default What's the difference between Eaton Posi, Truetrac & Full Spool on a 12 bolt

Been looking around at 12 bolts and I'm not entirly sure of the differences.

TSP list 33 Spline HD Eaton Posi or a 33 Spline Spool
http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=60&catid=6

Where as EPP list 12 bolt with Truetrac or 12 bolt with Full Spool
http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...ml?category=20

What's the difference???

I guess the Eaton and the Truetrac are the same kind of thing but I ain't too sure.

I have been looking at these as well. From my understanding the spool will make both wheels spin all the time. So it is not good to get if your car is a DD. The Eaton is a posi with discs while the Truetrac has no discs and is suppose to be stronger.

So I guess that means that posi in the case of the Eaton and the Truetrac are forms of Limited Slip Differentials (LSD's)????

If so, does that mean a spool is a locked differential????

Have a feeling this maybe as much a language barrier as a technical one, lol.

Yeah that's it. Don't feel bad I was asking my friends the same questions last night

if it does not differentiate, it's not a differential, so spools arent differentials.. the eaton is a posi using clutch packs, the truetrac uses worm gears to engage one or both wheels. It's kinda like a really smooth locker, and is very similar to a torsen (but much much stronger)

For most street cars I feel the Truetrac is the way to go, it is stronger than the Eaton unit, and I haven't heard of anyone having problems with one.
The spool's lock both axles together, all the time. Parallel parking would be a bitxh...
I've driven spool cars on the street though, and they're not too bad. You just have to watch it in the rain. Bob
