Default '97 WS6 with stock 3.42 rear question

I have a 1997 TA WS6 with the stock 3.42 rear. I have very few mods, so I only have like 15 more HP/TQ (330/345). I plan on taking it to the strip when summer comes, but I've heared so many times that the rears are so weak, because they're limited slip. It can't be THAT weak, can it? I don't plan on doing donuts and really BEATING on the car, but just taking it down the strip a few times to see what it can do. Will I be safe just doing that? I'm also afraid to even chirp the tires every now and then for the ladies, because I've heard the rear will break. Please, can someone confirm or refute this? Thanks!
