I have 410s but my friend has 456s and his rpms were high as hell on the freeway (3k going freeway speed) but damn that car got off the line fast. My 410s are not bad at all on the freeway.

2350 at 75 w/ 4.57s. Not that high, and you can actually use 6th gear other than just the freeway. If you race it at the track you will want some taller tires otherwise you won't make it through the 1/4.

I *love* 4.56 gears. To me, they're perfect. I daily drove my car with 4.56 gears (back before I built the new motor). Every gear was usable. No problems. I did it with both stock size and then slightly larger (26") tires.
And then when you go back and drive a car with 3.42's or 3.73's..... good Lord, those suck. Even 4.10's are nearly as bad. You find yourself with the gas pedal on the floor and saying "come on, RPM's, climb! climb! climb!".
Do it and don't look back.

Another thing to consider with higher (numeric) gears is learning how to really drive your car. If you do many power mods, you can't just floor it or tires will spin. I have 4.11's and with my mods wouldn't want anything higher while running street tires--which I do most of the time living in Seattle. Trying to go through the gears with nitrous is quite the challenge too. Consider your mods well before you decide which gears.

4.56 IS PERFECT. I can go 70mph and it barely turns over 2100 rpms with stock 17 inch ss wheels. I dont know were that guy who said it would turn high as hell got his information from. take it from someone with first hand knowledge. go with 4.56 and never look back!!!!

I wish I had gone with 4.56's! The 4.11's and detroit will be coming out and a spool with 4.56's will take it's place soon. 4.11's are good for a bolt on car, but if you are gonna stab in a big cam and rev it to 7k get 4.56's.

I have had the same questions about the 4.56's glad i found this thread. Just reading through it makes me want to go get a a new rear end with spool option and some 4.56's. Reason is because lately i have been looking at the Magic Stick and TREX as the cam of choice, just haven't decided yet.

So basically if i were to get the 4.56s i would just have to get used to RPMs climbing really, really fast. And have to go through my gears alot more, when i drive it whereever i go?
