3.73s for a 93 lt1 A4?
I have a few questions for you guys about getting some 3.73s for my car
1. how bad will my mileage go down going from 3.23s to 3.73s?? i drive mostly city daily driven, but once a month or so i make a 500 mile round trip to my parents
2. are 3.73s ok on a near stock car?? should I save up and get some suspension upgrades??
2. are drag radials needed with 3.73s?

Sorry about that, I accidentally hit the post button before I was finished. As I was saying , I just went up too 3.73's and absolutely love them. My mods are almost exactly the same as yours except I have a Madz28 tune and have not replaced the muffler. What a HUGE difference! My gas mileage around town actually went up about 1 or 2 mpg in town vs my 2.73. My highway mpg dropped a little bit as well. I say go 3.73, I dont think you will regret it!

3.73's will move the power band down, so low end will increase. Therefore, you're city MPG will increase because the RPMs needed to move are lower. Highway MPG will decrease because you're spinning the motor more to go certain speeds.
3.73's are awesome in autos. Go for it and don't look back!

the only reason i have 373s is because i had a factory 273 car.

i would suggest no more than 3k stall for that lt1. if you have no plans of camming that thing, i would say maybe a 2600-2800 stall. driveability really wouldn't be affected too much, but you'd have excellent gains at the track if you can hook. may i suggest a fuddle racing converter, good piece for the money. i have one and no complaints thus far (7k on it). also, get a b&m 24k tranny cooler. i would also suggest a mild shift kit, or maybe just some trans tuning to adjust shift points, firmness, etc. as adding the stall will really soften the shifts.

I had granatelli subframe connectors installed shortly after the 3.73's were installed. I must say that the sfc' s did make a difference. The body seemed to torque less and it does hook a little better now. I am not running drag radials right now but can still hook pretty good with a roll into the throttle. Throttle straight to the floor is a little too much if at a dead stop. I agree that a stall converter would be a great idea. I plan on getting a 2800 stall in the future. I also believe that going from a 3.23 to 3.73 is a great idea and is worth the money. I have known people that get 3 tenths or so going from a 3.23 to a 3.73. Plus if you are going to get a stall converter in the future the 3.73's are a good combination with a little larger than stock converter. I say get the gears first than the converter because many stall manufacturers want to know what gears you are running to help get the best stall for your combination. When you come to Panama City drop me an email and we will have to get up together.
