Default Help with moser 9 inch

I just installed my moser 9 inch in my 01 ws6 m6. it has a detroit locker
with 410's and 35 spline axles. the install went fine exept that now there is
a brutal clunk that is coming directly from the rear end. i put it up on the alignment rack and with the trans in neutral you can spin the drive shaft
about a half turn before the rear end yoke moves. it seems like an insane
amount of back lash. Any one with some ideas would be great about now.
the thing cost me a fortune, thanx alot

Sounds awfully familiar to my buddy's install: https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axles/442848-moser-9-locker-clunking-like-crazy.html

Looks like that is just the nature of the beast...

Thanx for that link it sounds just like my problem. I really wish the speed shop told
my how bad it was going to be. I drive about 6k a year and it makes the car feel
like a piece. Any one know if tightening the pinion depth would help?

If you see how the teeth engage then you will understand why the locker has extra backlash. Just make sure no cops are around when testing it out for the first time.

You have to get used to it or start thinking TruTrac. I ended up switching since my car is a dd.

Lockers are pretty harsh but are brutally strong. You can just tell yourself you're a hardcore performance enthusiast (yeah some people just take that approach!) and accept it as part of the price for performance, like loud exhaust, or you can try to get a soft locker. There isn't a lot you can do outside of that. If you're running 35 spline axles, you're pretty much out of luck unless you downgrade to 31 spline which would allow a soft locker or a trutrack.
