No, they are two different units but they are manufactured by the same company. Tractech used to make them but Eaton Corp. just bought them out.

The Truetrac is a worm gear driven, torque spliting unit that doesn't use any clutches or discs that are prone to wearing out over time. The Detroit locker is a cogged, fully locking differential that will only unlock under a no load situation. I just replaced an Auburn posi with a Detroit locker for a customer and he was very pleased with the traction and characteristics of the locker.
