Default Knocking noise on turns and rolling to stop signs

Yup, 10 bolt, 2001 trans am, M6, 50k. When I do a left hand turn sharply I can hear a constant knocking from the rear. WHen I go to neutral rolling about 5-10 mph straight up to a stop sign I can hear the same knock/clunk. The only thing I have done to the stock rear is change the fluid 10k ago and added the recommended grade oil and additive. I really don't wanna put any money into the rear until it poops. Suggestions/thoughts?

Sounds like your Torsen differential is on it's way out. The noises you here are the worm gears catching each other where they are chipping.

Sorry to sound like a sales pitch but I have Truetrac's in stock for $369.00 plus some shipping.

Depends if it's a loud knock or a milder rattling sound alomst like something is loose and rattling around in there. If it's the latter, it's just a little sticking going on and I have found that changing the fluid and adding the posilube helps, but it is not seious it's just what they do. If it's the former, it probably is going bad as stated above.

Yep. Mine did the same thing, and my posi is completely done. I thought it was just a rattle until the rear basically turned itself into a spool and it felt like the rear was about to come around any time I would turn. It was promptly parked after that and is waiting for the new 12-bolt

Default Same thing here

I'm getting the same thing, during turns and coasting to a stop. 2000 Z28 A4. Anyone have ideas on how long the diff will last before I have to replace it? Car is stock, daily driver, I don't race it yet. Waiting for my bank account to catch up with my wishlist. When the diff finally fails will it explode or just spin?

Pretty damn loud when rolling to a stop, def a knock. When turning left sharply and slowly more of a clunk that is light in sound. I think I'll just drive it until it poops. Is this dangerous?

I have the same problem, for the last year it has made a light knocking when I turned and sometimes when I slowed down. I just installed a BIG heads and cam package with a racing tranny and stall. Now the rear CLUNKS when I come to a stop at about 5 mph. I can't hear the noise when I turn because of the cam, but I know it is still there. Is it safe to drive? Will it go out all at once or what??
Thanks

Could the pinion angle cause the clunking??
Thanks
