Default Where to find 12 bolt ring & Pinion and which brand?

Just looking for some info on where to buy some new gears for my Strange 12 bolt rear (Besides Strange). Looking for 3.73's for a 4 series carrier. Any sponsers carry these? What brand is best to go with?

I have a Richmond gear on the shelf but I'm not sure they will be quiet. $200.00 plus some shipping.

Thanks Scott!

I should give you a call in the next couple days. My 4.10's aren't quite either . I think they were set up kinda tight or something cause they are quite till about 75mph when they start to howl..

At 75 mph it might just be an oiling issue.

That's kind of scary. What kind of oiling issue? not enough oil, wrong type?

I just changed the oil after 400 total miles on the rear, there was a decent amount of metel shavings stuck to the magnet and in the oil. I put back in the recomended type and viscosity. Strange recomended 2 quarts plus a bottle of aditive.

I noticed there are zert fittings on the outside axle tubes, do these need to be greased periodically to?

The gears rely on splash for oiling so you might want to run 2.5 quarts of oil and then add the posi aditive. The zert fittings are to grease the axle bearings since you must have the Timken Set 20 axle bearings and not the sealed ball bearing style.

Ok, I'll pump another 1/2 quart in there and see.

I hope those bearings come pre-lubed from Strange then. How do you know when there is enough grease in there? Just use wheel bearing type grease?

Thanks for your help BTW

Yes they are pregreased but you may want to add some. Any bearing grease will work, I use the red synthetic just because it is water proof.

Great, Thanks Steve! I to use the redline synthetic grease.

BTW, I'm still working on figuring out what gear ratio to use, I'll let you know.
