It will raise the fun factor thats for sure . When I went from my 2.73s to 3.42 I loved it. Then I went to 3.73s and 3600 stall and it is a different beast. Get rid of the 2.73s as soon as you can. There are some that like them for improved gas mileage but 3.73s will really wake your car up.
I would think you may gain .2 -.3 in the 1/4 if you get good traction.

also think further down the road, i had 2.73's i went to 3.73's but now that i will be running more power i almost wish I had the lower (numericly) gears. next summer i am looking to be putting 800ish at the wheels.
but by then i will have a 12 bolt or a 9" so i guess i can get them geared how i want =)

If you have the right stall converter the gain with gears won't be as much as has been noted. Nothing works as well as a properly sized torque converter.
I'm running 3.23 gears and turning consistent 1.4 60's with my PI 3600.
Several years ago when a friend was running mid 12s he switched from 3.23 to 3.73 and lost approx .1 et. Difficult to believe but that was his results. He went back to 3.23's and gained that .1 back. With a 10 second car or faster the results might be totally different.
