Synthetic 75W90 oil with additive.
Red Line and Royal Purple are both good synthetics that already include the additive.

Mobil 1 *should* have the additive already too, but I'm not sure.

if you have the torsen carrier you can use synthetic,if you have the auburn carrier you need the reg gm 80-90 and a bottle of friction modifier

it depends honestly, anything before 98 is auburn.98 up could be either one.best to pull the cover off and look.most will be the torsen, but you never know if someone upgraded it also so thats throws more into the mix.trust me on this THE AUBURN WON"T LIVE LONG WITH SYNTHETIC OIL.it seems odd but it beats it up quickly wearing the livin sheeet out of the cone clutches.one quick way to tell them apart without pulling the cover off is to jack both rear wheels off the ground and with the trans in neutral turn one rear wheel.the AUBURN will turn both wheels in the same direction.the TORSEN will turn one in the OPPOSITE direction.this is assuming nothing is broken or wornout.

^^^^ what he said. As far as I know <98 stock Auburn, 98-99 same Auburn, 00-02 stock Torsen T1 with Auburn (Pro??) optional on SLP SSs and Firehawks. Does this sound right. YES, any Auburn and any Eaton diff is required to use regular mineral (NOT synthetic) gear oil.
