Default How much should labor cost to install 4:10s?

I'm going to be ordering 4:10 gears soon for my 95 Firehawk, and would like to know how much people pay to have them put in. I already talked to one shop and he said it would be $250. Is this too much or too little? I'm going to be buying the package deal with gears, seals, gear oil, and everything else required for $320, and need to have an estimate for labor costs.

We charge $400.00, which includes speedo recalibration. The 10 bolts rears in these cars are very weak, and we guarantee they will be quiet when they leave the shop, but no guarantees after that. One hard launch can flex these rears enough to cause gear whine that can become unbearable. Bob

200 would be a perfect price for local shop so 250 isn't to bad.

A local shop here in upstate is charged us $150, labor only.

I've had him do 2 sets in my cars, and 5 other friends.

That was the case with my strange 4.10's. Quiet on initial break in and use, up until I got wheel hop and spanked a lightning. Whined after that.

Also, having setup quite a few gears myself I would be weary of a shop charging $150-200. The are either half assing it or don't know what they're doing. It can be a lot of work to install the gears properly. There were very few times that everything lined up right the first time.

i was told 3 to 400 with gear install and new berings and to weld the axle tubes so a total of $800- $900 is alot to spend on something thats a 50 50 shot so ill save for a 12 or 9 i have been debating this since i got the car if tis worth it or not, a friend talked me out of it.
