Default Would my 4 channel rear work in my 3 channel car

Can I put a ASR rear in my car if it dosent have ASR? Would I just let the connectors hang for the ASR or can I just take them off? What would I have to do if anything?

Also I want to order gears and a install kit, would I have to order it as a 4 channel with ASR or a 3 channel without ASR?

If you want your ABS to work, then you can't do it. There's not a drilled boss for the ABS plug on top of the 4-channel pumpkin. If you have connections at a machine shop, this can be remedied, but it would be better to get a 3-channel rear to start with.

Ok so what does the machine shop actually have to do, and is it expensive?

Does anyone have any experience with this same situation I have. I mean if I just put the rear in my car what would happen? Would it work normal but it just would not have ABS at the rear brakes? Would it throw a brake light on? I just dont want to do all this work and All I want to do with the rear is just put a set of 4.10s in it with a complete ratech install kit and a ta cover and thats that. The stock rear thats in the car now would just sit around and wait till I blow this one up. If anyone could just give me some answers before I run into them myself and hope its all good in the end

You wouldn't have ABS at all, the controller needs to see all the sensors operating correctly.

What will happen? The ABS INOP and ASR OFF (if so equipped) lights will come on and stay on the whole time. They're kind of annoying, mine have been on since I broke my 10 bolt, and I have no idea why.

What about this - put the 4.10s in the rear end you have now, and keep the other 4 channel rear end as a backup. That way you can keep your ABS and only go without it if absolutely necessary.

Thts wierd you wrote this post. I have a 3-channel in my car (non-ASR) and I'm picking up a 4-channel tomorrow. If I just drill and tap the housing on the 4-channel that I am purchasing, can I simply swap over the ABS control from the 3-channel in my car to the 4-channel rear I am buying??

No because there will not be a tone ring on the differential of the 4 series rear you are buying, thus the sensor will have no signal to pick up on.

Can I install the ASR setup on my car with the 4 channel rear? If so I would just do that instead

I guess mechanically you would just need to have the TCS harness, but I would imagine that the abs controllers are different. And if you did have to replace the controller it would probably not be worth the $$ to do so.
