I did 7-8 heat cycles on mine. I would drive 20-30 miles and let it cool for several hours or overnight. Probably overkill, but I wanted to be sure.

1 heat cycle, let them cool over night, and you are good to go.

I've always heard to let them cool after the first 20-30 miles of driving, and never to go over 60mph/get on it for the first 500 miles. I'll be installing mine in a week, so I'll probably follow the 500 mile rule just to be safe.

I was told by every gear maker I spoke with to follow the same procedure you would with a clutch break in. 500 miles, no clutch dumps, easy driving, no high revving or long distances in the same gear, etc. I gave my 4.10's a good 500 miles and then changed the fluid and it was crystal clear. No problems 15k miles later either.
