bigger axles in 10 bolt?
I have a 99 trans am with factory 10 bolt. I know everyone is going to say dont waste the $ but I just want info. Are you able to fit 31 spline axles into a 10 bolt that has 28spline axles stock? Any modifications needed? Thanks in advance.

Care to pass on the part number you are using ??
Because as it is.... there is NO 31 spline Auburn differential for any General Motors application. The closest thing would be a 30 spline for a 8.5" 10bolt...... and this will not fit into a 7.5" 10bolt case.
Secondly, with the axle shaft diameter of a 30 or a 31 spline axle I am sure you will find a needle in a haystack before you find an axle bearing that fits the tube diameter. Unless.... you went to a press-on type bearing/axle and the associated housing ends.
And a last thought. Why ?? The ring and pinion are still the weak link due to their micro size in consideration to the power levels of this chassis stock.

Count the teeth ??
I mean, it is possible to stuff any spline side gear into the carier housing..... as long as it will fit into the case. So I wont doubt it at all, but I wouldnt see Auburn just throwing one or two of these at the general public.
A 7.5" 10bolt Auburn is only available in a 26 and a 28 spine variety. The 8.5" 10 bolt in available in a 28 and a 30 spline as is the 12bolt (30 spline).
Where did you get this diff ??
