Default need help picking a drive shaft

I am looking into purchasing a drive shaft for my ls1 powered firebird. The car is a "max-effort" style street/strip car making less than 1000hp. Can someone help me.

I sell the PST 3.5" aluminum driveshaft which is rated for 1200 hp. It comes with the front yoke and both 1350 U Joints. $399.00, and is located in the store area of my website. Bob

http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=3&pcid=209

frees up ~5% hp (~20hp on a 400hp car) and does minimal damage, if any, if it breaks.

And is also 800 bucks . I'll be going with the PST when the time comes. 1200hp, aluminum, and great price. I dont think I'll ever break it. Now dont get me wrong, I'd love to have that carbon fiber driveshaft, but its definitely pricey. I hear when they break, all they do is clean the underbody of your car

I have the 3.5" aluminum PST and it's a great item. You can also polish it like I have if you want the underside of your car to look nice.

i know it's pricey but look at it this way:

you have to spend $400 either way so:

-get a strong driveshaft (PST aluminum)
or
-spend $400 and get a strong driveshaft plus 20hp

i'd look at it as is 20hp worth $400 rather than look at it as an $800 driveshaft since you gotta buy one anyway. look at it as a $400 power adder

either way i'm sure you'll be happy. the PST driveshaft sounds damn nice.

lol i don't mean to pressure you into blowing all your money and all. i'm just saying if since you gotta buy one anyway and you're gonna spend $400, you may as well spend another $400 and pick up 20hp and the added safety of near zero damage if the driveshaft ever breaks. very VERY few mods will add 20hp for $400.

if you were just looking for a mod, i'd never recommend an $800 driveshaft...but since you gotta do it ANYWAY, an extra 20hp would be nice

if you can't afford it, PERIOD, don't get it. no use messing up your finances over a driveshaft. however, if you can't afford it NOW but can in another month if you spend sensibly, i think it's worth waiting for.

man i can't wait til the day when i can say this

for you, on a car making ~1000hp, that carbon fiber will be worth 40-50hp by the sounds of it!

Yes, they "broom" into fibers and lighten your car by stripping away all of the undercoating for you. J/K. They are pretty good if you can swing the price though and as an added benefit they tend to dampen/quiet down/kill some/most of the NVH inherent in our cars' drivetrain.

Can these carbon fiber driveshafts handle the power of car making 1000+ rwhp? Launching on sticky tires too?

Denny's Nitrous good for like 2,000 hp, with a lifetime guarantee against breakage.

That would make them not worth the money in my book, but that's just me.
