Default 6-Speed 3.23's

I converted from an automatic and I still have the 3.23 rear end gears. Is my car having to work too hard with the small rear end gears?I have been battling some "pinging" adn detonation problem. Could this be contributed to my small rear end gears and my car "lugging" to much on the interstate and such?

if you're at stock or near stock power levels then a lower gear would better suit you ie. 373, 410. But if you're running a turbo it's the other way around. I just went from 342 to 310 in my moser 9" but it's a turbo car. There shouldn't be any major issues with the 323 cause a 342 isn't going to be noticably different and it will get you better gas mileage.
