Default 9" w/3.90's equal no ABS/TC?

Will I lose ABS and traction control by going to a 9" rear end?

I don't take my M6 car to the track, nor do I race it- I would just like to have the upgraded rear. Everyone seems to be pretty happy with the 3.90's, and I do plan on adding a head/cam package down the road. Right now the car is stock, but I have Kooks headers and some other goodies ordered for it.

I was just thinking about upgrading the rear since I had some spare cash laying around.

if your not going to do any racing at all especially no drag strip racing i wouldn't go as far as a 9"......at the most you should go with a 12 bolt. Now if you start going to the track every once and a while and launching pretty hard i would go with a 9". Just my .02

If you have traction control you have a four channel system. You can swap or buy new backing plates and have TC/ABS without any prob. I have a 9in from Driveline Solutions and I love it. I dont go to the track much but I heard to many stories of noisy 12 bolts after good launches at the track so I figured what the heck. Call Scott he'll help you out. BTW when you read about weight and drivetrain loss understand this. It is true if youre running a 33 or 35 spline setup but if you go with a 31 spline and trutrac setup you'll love it, youll have the strength but without the weight.

The Moser 9 inch has a ABS/TCS (4 channel) option. They don't offer ABS (3 channel) only option for the 9 inch. I prefer the way Moser bolts the torque arm to the rear on their 9 inch better than the way the 12 bolt is mounted.

Moser 9 inch, 31 spline axles, nodular iron case, true trac with your choice of gears, ABS/TCS. $2,500 shipped to your door. Rear is ready to ship in two days!

So if the car doesnt have traction control but does have ABS the 9in wont work cuz thats a 3 channel setup? Im so very close to the amount I need to get a rear end and since I race the car at the track and run her hard on the street iv been told the 9in is the better choice over the 12 bolt and S60. Whats yalls thoughts?

4 channel = ABS + TCS (9" supports)
3 channel = ABS only
2 or less channel = NO ABS (9" supports)

You have a ABS sensor on each side of the car at the front to make 2 channels.
For the 3 channel, the 3rd sensor is in the center section of the rearend.
For the 4 channel, the you have a sensor on each side of the rearend.

The current 9" does not support the 3 channel because there's not a design for the center section to support the ABS ring.

The current 9" does support the 4 channel (extra option) where each axle can hold a stock ABS ring. If you get the standard axles, you will lose ABS all together since your car will only have the 2 channels up front.

I run a Moser 9" w/ True Trac, 3.89 gears, and 4 channel option on my 1998 Z28. My car came with ABS/TCS and still works just fine. I went with the 9" design because it's strong, and the third member can be easily accessed.

so if I were to use the 9in I would have to upgrade to the 4channel ABS or just run ABS on the fronts right?

If you don't have TCS currently (4 channel), you will loose ABS with the 9". ABS will not work with just the fronts.
