Default What Gears For Daily Driver A4????

i was pretty set on getting 3.73 gears....(BIG change since i have 2.73's now!) BUT, im considering possibly 3.90's....its a daily driver and i really enjoy the 20mpg avg that i have right now....if it goes down, fine....but im not trying to get horrible gas mileage and be taching 3000 or anything on the highway.....what should i do? just get 3.73's since its a stupid automatic???

If it is a daily driver then i would go with the 3.73's. The 3.90 is just a little too much as far as rpm's and gas mileage on a daily driver. But thats my opinion im sure many other people will chime in with more info.

I have 3.42s in mine and at 70 mph it's taching @ 3200 RPM in Drive and 2200 in OD. So go figure with 3.73s it will be taching 3500 in Drive and 2400 in OD. If you don't have a converter yet look into getting it first. The difference is unbelieveable.

Read this for a little more info

I say get a converter first.. Converter will completely change the car making it really hit hard out of the hole but still cruise at low RPM. I have a 3400 stall and drive it daily.. I mean real daily driver 250 miles a week and have no problems and love it.

For sure gears will help the car and you can check the RPMs at speed with different gears here..
Here is 3.90 gear at 70mph
Here is the stock 2.73 gear at 70mph..
