Thumbs up Going to a Steel Drive Shaft

Well I found a company here is Phoenix that will be building me a custom Drive Shaft for $190.00. It will be made of steel because the Aluminum one that I have was damaged because of Faulty workmanship from a company here is AZ.

I will have more of the details of Driveshaft. I do know that it will be thicker walled steel, 3 inch, fully balanced and with u-joints. I just have to take my stock one down to get it measured.

How much power will I loser going to a heavier Driveshaft? Is it really noticable?

Hmm if you were going to go steel, why not just get one out of a LS1 car for cheap?

LS1 f-bodies are not steel. They come with an aluminum weak driveshaft

I don't know how much HP you'll lose with a stronger driveshaft, but I know from personal experience you will lose 100% of your HP at the wheels with a weak one

Actually my 2001 came with a steel driveshaft, as do some others - I'm not really sure the rhyme or reason when it came to GM selecting which driveshaft went into which car, because my '00 Z's was aluminum.

Usually the autos with 2.73's came with steel DS. Be prepared to wear out some tailshaft bushings with that heavy sucker and 3.73's. Make sure that thing is balanced like a champ before you run the **** out of it too.

I had a bad experience with my steel driveshaft as it made my whole car vibrate and ultimately i think it was the cause of my reara F*cking up.

Well most of the ones I see people selling on here are made of steel. I don't want a carbon fiber one. I don't remember what tubing he will be using so I don't know what the difference is.

If you're going to have one custom made, pay a little bit more and go with chromolly. Stronger material, so you'll get the same strength out of a lighter shaft.

I think M6's with the 235X16 non speed rated tires also came with the steel DS. M6's with the 245X16 and 275X17 got the aluminum DS.
