Default 4.10 w/ 315 Nitto's

hey guys. i just got a set 315 Nittos in the rear and i want to put a new set of 4.10 gears in the car. i have the stock 3.42's right now. i thought i should go ahead and put the gears in since i still am undecided on which route to go with the motor. with the mods i have and putting the 4.10's in it, would my stock rear handle it? do u think this is a good way to go? what company makes a good set of gears? any advice will help tremendously. thanx.

You should be fine with the stock rear end, as long as you don't run a real sticky tire and launch the car. I come out of the hole very lightly (1.93 60'), but it's not like you could launch hard with a nitto drag radial in a M6 with 4.10 gears, you will just spin/bog. I drive my car pretty hard and have not had any problems with my rear end at all. If you ever have any wheel hop, eliminate it. When I used to have 305-35-18's in the back, I had wheel hop, and got rid of it by getting LCA relocation brackets.

Make sure the gears are setup correctly, by someone who knows what they are doing. If you don't plan on buying a 12 bolt / 9 inch for a while, then yes this can be a worthwhile mod for you, as I would not go back to 3.42's if you paid me.

I see you have a stronger clutch, I know that will put more force/stress on your rear, I am still on the stock clutch.

Exactly.

Oh, btw, I have Motives and so far so good. I have between 20-30 passes on them with 315 Nittos.

As soon as you add a good clutch, you will break the rear even with Nitto's. Nitto 315's don't hook all that well because they have such a short sidewall. I never had a problem untill I put a mcleod twin in. First launch POP broke a axle. Fixed it, second launch, POP broke all the spyder gears. That was back back when I had about 400rwhp.

well im not working with 400rwhp. i really dont know what im putting down. i have...
longtubes
custom y-pipe
lid
dual cutouts
short throw shifter
stg 2 spec c clutch
315 nitto's
im not tuned either, so im only guessing 330-340 to the wheels. so im hoping im not gonna blow my rear.
