Would a driveshaft safety loop have prevented this?
The rear of my steel driveshaft let go, and it gashed the sheetmetal between my rear seats and generally beat the crap out of my car's underbody.
Would a loop have prevented this? It seems like most of the loops are near the front, and I'm not sure if they'll hold the rear of the driveshaft from flailing around. Are they just designed to keep the car from becoming airborne?
Anyone?

There are loops available for the rear that mounts to the torque arm. These would prevent damage to the underbody. The front loop is for preventing the car from pole vaulting as you assumed.
