convertor / gear choice for street use
Trying to decide on the best combo for my 2000 SS.
Have the typical bolt-on mods and will see mainly street use, with a trip to the strip 3 - 4 times a year. Will be running Nitto DRs as street tires.
My current choices are a SY3500 with my current 3.23 gear or a Yank 3000 with a 3.73. The parts prices are about equivalent.
Any suggestions or anyone with the combos above with opinions?

SY 3500 and stock gears for pure street use or occasional strip racing with stock tires or drag radials. If you're going for stickier tires, then a Vig 3200 (stalls 3800) would work well. Keep in mind the Vig would punish the stock tires on the street were the Super Yank would not. The SY 3500 would be better from a roll too.

I have the SY3500 and 3.15's(I have a C5) and it's very streetable. My tranny temps are the same as before the converter swap. Plus if your using drag radials, the converter will give you about a half second off your E.T. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

With the 3.73s I would go 3400 2.1 STR
I bought Midwest so I'm biased. I saved a bunch and I'm very happy. I have 3000 2.5 with 2.73s and no bolt ons.
Good Luck whatever you get. You're going to love a stall.
