Wow, someone else from Crystal Lake is on here. Changing the seal isn't that hard. I just replaced mine last week when I installed new gears.

1. Disconnect the driveshaft from the yoke.
2. Use a dremel to make a small mark on both the pinion nut and the pinion shaft to align them perfectly when you put the nut back on. Also note how many threads are visible past the nut.
3. Remove pinion nut with a 1-1/4" impact gun
4. Pry the yoke off the pinion shaft
5. Pry out the seal
6. Install new seal, yoke, and nut. Make sure you don't over tighten the pinion nut or you will have major problems to deal with. Basically you'd have to disassemble the rear end to replace the crush collar. You should also use red loctite on the pinion nut to make sure it doesn't loosen over time. Just don't tighten the nut past the mark you made in step 2, and make sure the same number of threads are showing.
7. Hook up the driveshaft and you should be good to go.

Actually I've never been to the car show before. Maybe I'll head down there sometime.

perfict write up just a few additional things you may want to consider is checking teh back of the old seal to make sure the spring is there, sometimes the springs break and fall into the rear just in front of the outter bearing thus releasing pressure on the seal causing it to leak, most times its just old though. If there is indeed a spring in there make sure to get it out. Id also invest in a scotch brite and cleaning out the housing where the old seal was to get it free of any rust and debris, also polish the area of the yoke that rides on the seal with the scotch brite. Additionaly get some 3M weather seal and run a small bead around the new seal so where it gets pressed into the housing, apply a little grease to the splines of the pinion where the yoke slides over and apply a little grease to the seal surface which rides on the yoke so the new seal doesnt burn out.
