Damn paddle kit

I had no idea i had to buy a 175 dollar paddle kit for this rear end in my 02 camaro. Is that a nessary item any does done anything different. Just pisses me off that i had to have it.

Have you actually tried installing it yet? I didn't need one in my car even though the place I bought my gears from said I would. Also to get around it, some people file down a corner of the paddle to re-insert it.
