So I would buy a body mounted torque arm to compensate?

The rear end will have to have the mounting tabs removed and the Fbody ones welded on.
This still leaves your TA situation and I have no idea how to go about getting it to work.

Your best bet is to save some money and then keep an eye out on the for sale forums and buy one used that is made to fit the 4th gen.
Thats what I did.

also the 1/2 ton 12 bolt has a smaller ring gear than the car 12 bolt. and has 5X5 bolt pattern where as your f body has 5X4 3/4 from the factory. my advice would be find a 12 bolt that bolts into your 4th gen
