Default 3.89 or 4.11???

I will be ordering my 9 inch for my 2000 SS 6sp from Driveline Solutions on Monday and I'm trying to decide between 3.89 and 4.11 gears. The car has bolt-ons now but will get heads and a cam next winter. Let me know what you guys think.

go to www.fbody.com and look at the gear calculator. if you ar running a 4.10 it might be too small of a gear for the 1/4 and you may max out 4th before you finish.

I talked to Scott from DLS today about what I should order. It is your decision untimately, but I think I'm going to try 3.89 in mine. I have a 4.1 right now in my broken 10-bolt. I figured out that if my car traps 117 it would be at 5900 rpm w/ 3.89. When I asked Scott, he didn't seem to think you would notice or lose much going to a 3.89.

I just placed my order to day and he told me the same thing. I went with the 3.89 just incase I decided to spray at it. 4.11s going through the traps in fourth gear is too close to the rev limiter for me. Thanks for the info.

hmmm, I've been debaiting this myslef, I just asked you on your other thread what gears you are gonna go with. So 3.89's huh. I think I too will be going with 3.89's. I have a top end H/C car and I also will be spraying so it seels 3.89's it will be. What brand gears does scott use? Good luck with your new set up!

You'll have to ask Scott. He said it is a Strange center section, so I assume they are Strange gears also.

If you spray, 3.89's in a 6 speed with a 26" tire are incredible. If you were going to go with a 28" tire, or a 26" on motor, 4.10's might be a little more for your style.

Quick Reply: 3.89 or 4.11???
