Default What gear for 1/4

I have a 9 inch i am going to order and still, not ceratin on what gear to get I will have a M6, my engine can spin to 7000, and i will have a 28in tire. I was told by someone that i should gop with a 4.30 and EPP told me to go with a 3.90 or something like that. But most guys with stock tire hieght go with 4.11s so a liol insight will help from more of the experienced

3.90 or 4.11, 4.30 you will likely have to shift to 5th by the end of the track

I run 4.33's and go thru the traps in 4th with a 27" tire so you'll be fine

It depends on how much horsepower you are making, as when the mph goes up, you may run out of gear. Bob

I'm putting down 400HP and have 28" tires, an M6, 4.10s, and a 7k RPM rev limiter. I haven't been to the quarter with the 28s yet, but I'm positive that with my 117ish trap speed I'll be more than fine without shifting 5th. I really wish I had 4.30s because I'm sure I still wouldn't run out of gear, and I could certainly use the extra umph on the launch.

I'll just get a Procharger from Bob instead, though.

4.10s will let you go up to 142 with that setup, 4.3s will let you go 136

You should be fine with the 4.30's but if it sees street time then i would go 4.10's. Of course im saying this without knowing your setup, but i assume you wont be trapping over 140

Go with the 4.30's! I had 4.30's and a 28 inch tall tire and it was perfect! My car revs. to 6700rpm and I didn't run out of gear. I was talked into switching to a 4.10 gear and wish I never did the switch. I plan on switching back to 4.30's as soon as I get some more $! Trust me.......you will not have to switch out of forth!

If no n20, 4.30's will be fine, if you plan on any juice, 4.10's or even 3.73's depending on the shot.

I'm spraying and the N20 was fine. He will not have a problem with 4.30's and a 28 inch tall tire. Hell there are guy's on here and friends I have running a 4.56 gear with a 28 inch tall tire and they don't run out of gear!
