Default It broke

Well I am new to these LS1 cars and I have a 99 Trans Am. The car has 11,000 miles on it and the posi broke.
Was at the track on my 4th pass it broke. I think it is the spider gears. What shocks me is my car is stock and I have the original radial tires still on the car. I heard these rear ends are week but figured stock without sticky tires I would be OK for a while.

There are stories of them being broken before getting them home from the dealership, so this isn't surprising at all. Get yourself a 12-bolt or 9" in that thing and don't worry about it again.

If budget is an issue, then you can buy a used 10-bolt on here for cheap ($150-200).

Curious, do you drive an auto or 6-speed? And how hard were you launching?

Looks to me like the previous owner of your car drove those 11000 miles a 1/4 mile at a time with sticky tires. That's exceptional for it to break the way you launched it. Did it make any funny noises prior to going to the track?

No funny noises. The track was prepped pretty well. My 60' before it broke were 1.97 and 1.98. When I raced it prior to this it ( at another track ) 60' at 2.09 to 2.15
