Default Slip yoke too long, cut it?

I ordered a new slip yoke for my 12 bolt instal, everything is done and on the car except the drive shaft. The new drive shaft is exactly the same length as the stock one. Hover my nifty new 1350 slip yoke is about 1" longer than the stock slip yoke. I have good mechanical skills and know how to use a grinder/dremel. So, you guys think it'll be cool if I trim the new slip yoke to fit? I need the car to get to work, no other option.

I would be concerned about losing internal depth...is it splined deep enough that you are not compromising its strength?

the spline depth is the same if not deeper than the stock unit, so that's not an issue. I already cut it, I'll post pics later.
