For those debating on doing 4.10's...
I just put a 12 bolt with 4.10's in my car and have been breaking the gears in over the last few days. My impressions are only based on part throttle driving and easy launches. Clutch take up is much smoother...I have a spec stage 3 and it chattered like alot with the 3.42's...now very uneventful. I downshift much less because the gear just pulls the car. I can cruise in 6th gear in traffic and not bog the motor. My overall impression is that this gearset is totally streetable...GM should have put 4.10's in from the factory. I almost wish I had gone 4.56's.

I love the 4.11's in my car. Only been able to drive the car a couple of days since they got put in, and one night at the track. I took my car to the track the same night I put my 9" with 4.11's in. And was leaving at 5k! I did a few heat cycles to get them warm, and put it up on a lift and run through the gears for about 20mins, and then reverse for about 10 mins. And I havent had any gear whine, only alot of noise from my damn locker.

Having driven a TH305 and a 4L60e, I am very reluctent to go high on the gear. I went 3.42's in my 12 bolt when I had it in my LT1 with the A4, Now I have a 02 T/A with a 6 speed. I just put in a set of 4.11's and they rock. Even with a bolt on car, its more driveable on the street, I can cruise at 35 in 6th. Skip gears for gas reasons.
I didnt want to go 4.30's because I think 2k rpms at 70 is more then enough and I like to drive. If it was a race car, 4.30's all the way.

4.30s are awesome. I have them on my car and only pull 2150 RPMs in 6th at 75mph. its nice to be able to use all the gears and still stay in 4th at the track trapping 117mph. I can accelerate in 6th gear with no problems, even when the motor is at 1300 RPMs.
