i'm not too familiar with IRS. so how much more is involved in regearing an 01 vette than a semi floating straight axle? and what all do i need besides pinion bearings, pinion seal, crush sleeve, and fluid? thanks guys

You need to have the getrag specific tools, be prepared to spend 1k+ for the tools alone. If you would like to rent the tools let me know we may be able to work something out.

I agree.

You need the special tools, and the install is trickier. Best bet is to just buy a new pumpkin and be done with it. DTE will take your old core if you want to do the install yourself.

For all the labor and parts/tools involved, I just took it to ECS in NJ and it was done in a few hours for far less than I could have done it.

i work at a dealership, i've just never dealt with rebuilding an IRS rearend, so the tools aren't an issue...just curious as to how much more involved it actually was. thanks

If you have the tools than you have the video which walks you through how to rebuild the rear.
