Default break in time

What is the proper break in time for my motive 3.73's?

drive a total of 250 miles in 50 mile increments.....after each let it cool down so that they heat treat....after the 250 change the fluid and do it one more time the same way for a total of 500 miles....i did this...and everything is fine

When I had my Motives (3.73s) installed they were dead quiet and I drove it real easy for the first 200 miles.

All it took after that was one 10 mph punchdown and they whined louder than a siren.

I replaced these with a set of Strange gears, drove it easy for 500 miles and these have remained quiet.

you need to heat treat them thats why i said you need to drive to heat them up then let them cool...

You'll hear mixed opinions on this. Most say to drive it til it heats up, then let it cool completely before driving again...then let your first 500 miles be easy.

Well I don't have time for that. I installed my motive 4.10's starting at 9am in the morning and at 1pm I drove straight to the track to "break them in"

I put mine up on a jack and run in foward gears for about 15 minutes, and then reverse for 5 minutes. Hit the street and made a few loops up and down the road, then mashed on it! Took it to the track the same night and beat the hell out of em'! No whining so far!
