Default Clunking noise

I was wondering if any of you guys have had a clunking noise coming from your stock 10 bolt when going over rough surfaces at low speeds.I really don't think it is a gear noise but I could be wrong, I just changed my gears about a year ago. I hadn't really noticed the noise until I put SFCs, but I really notice it now. It happens when the tail kinda move left to right over rough pot holed surfaces. Just wondering what it could be. I am changing the rear shocks within the next few days and I hope that is my problem. I just wanted to try and find out if I have a bad problem before I take the car on Vacation which is a 12hrs ride.
Thanks

I think im havin the same problem! Its really noticeable at 20-25 mph. It goes away at 30 & up. I think my panhard rod bushings are gone. Isnt that what resists rear left to right movement? The noise I have sounds like the rotors are bouncing around. Its the same noise as when you jack the rear up and push the wheels in & out ( allowable axial play that everyone complains about). Is this at all like your problem. Also, be more specific.

Try ******* down the upper Panhard mount bolt
really tight, the mount flange is flimsy sheet metal.
I used thick fender washers to help back it up. It
was clunking pretty badly until I got the sheet
metal to compress the rubber end bushing some.
If it's loose then it slops, metal sleeve to bolt and
nothing to damp it out.

Havent fixed it yet. Just livin with it for now. Its my daily driver. Ive been searching this site comepletly to try and narrow it down. I dont want replace numerous parts & not fix the problem. Il keep you in mind if I figure it out.

Did you mean the upper bolt ( pass. side) for the lwer panhard rod OR the upper bolt (drivers side) for the upper Panhard rod?

I mean the one that's attached to the body sheet metal
stamped boss, up by the gas tank. Mine got all sloppy
just from pushing grease in with a grease gun (aftermarket
PBR with a zerk for it). Doesn't take much.

this is my first post I registered just to answer this question!

you lower control pivot bolt is to loose!
the one on the lower control arm that attaches to the subframe connector
touque it down to about 90ft/lbs to compress the bushing and it will take care of your problem!

good luck

Thanks man I will go check it out! I just put some tubular lower control arms on the car, I might not have tighten them up enough.

You dont happen to have an aftermarket diff cover do you??? I have the TA cover with the preload studs. And the one stud was clanking on the panhard bar brace for awhile. Til it clearanced itself. haha.

Otherwise, I agree with the other guys. Tighten things up real good. And check around for things banging into each other...
