shavings in my rear end
well ,my rear end started making more noise than normal,i only have 28k on the car, when my cover was pulled,my fluid was thin and watery and shavings on the magnet, you guys think a whole new bearing kit will save the day,all my gears look mint, what happend?

i replaced my gears in my v6 firebird. i heard if you have watery rear end.. thats a really really bad problem . and you dont want any shavings whatsoever in your rear end .. you should check your pinion depth and backlash with a centering depth tool and check to see the wear on your gears to see if they are normal there is a guide somewhere for it i bet ... do you have stock gears?

stock 3.23,the gears look great, pinion bearing an backlash are normal, shavings are from the bearings, but like i said what the hell cause it,i rarley beat it.should i get a whole new rear s60 or patch it up with every bearing new and pray?

I started changing my gears a few days ago and noticed a lot of shavings in my rearend too. The gears looked great but when I went to change the bearings I noticed a lot of pitting off the carrier bearings, same problem as you. I'm lucky I got them changed!
