rem/micronite gear and pinion
Has anyone done this lately? I have seen where the t-56 gets done on a regular basis but not much on those who are doing it to the ring and pinion.

Cost = about $150 for a gear set (your gears) from HRP. about $450 for a new gear set (purchased new, included with Micronite process) from Crane.
Where to get it done = HRP. Crane... Tex racing, Mark Williams also can do the process as well... you really want a set that hasnt has the pinion shaft done... as it effects the bearings interfearance fit.
Is it worth it = yup. no required brake in... lower oil temps... etc etc.
I do both the cryo and the rem process to gears sets when I get 'em done.

I was just looking to see if anyone had done it receintly. Should be getting a new rear soon and want to know of experiences. So If I am purchasing the rear as a whole unit will a place like HRP take the ring and pinion if it came out of an assembly?

If you had the time, money and knowledge to disassemble/reassemble the unit... I would do the seperate components. It cant hurt... but the worms will need to be re-fit.

I had Roger at Vinci High Performance (sponsor here) Mikronite the ring and pinion for my 12 bolt. Not only is he very knowledgeable but very helpful as well. They will only process new units; not used. He recommends the "black box" Motive gear sets, so I ordered them directly from Strange and had it drop shipped to Roger. New gears were $154 from Strange and the process cost $250. Turnaound time was about 2 weeks. Here's a pic.
