Default Gasket for Rear End?

I'm going to be changing the fluid in my rear end this week since I don't know when and if it's ever been changed. A buddy of mine picked me up a paper gasket from the GM dealership he used to work for. Do I need to use RTV with the paper gasket? It doesn't seem like I can just throw it on there.

yes make sure you get a good seal, as they are prone and notorious for leaking.

Forget the gasket and just use RTV Sealant. Gasket is a waste of time and they are prone to leaking.

I just changed my fluid and gasket in my 98 formula, put RTV on the front and back sides of the gasket from Autozone, no leaks yet and it has been 2 weeks. Good luck!

A couple of things: I used only rtv on mine and when you change the rear grease, you need to know whether or not you have an auburn posi. If you do, you need the GM posi additive.
