Need help on a KTRE rear end
I bought a car that already had a 12-bolt KTRE rearend installed. The axles are 33 spline and the rear end is rated for 1000 hp. Its been recommended that I upgrade my wheel studs. But shouldn't the studs that came with it be good enough? I'm most certain that they are not stock studs, but I have no idea what grade they are. Does anyone else know what grade studs that KTRE used in their 12-bolt rear ends?
thanks

I wouldn't drag race a car with 12mm or 1/2 studs with 1000 hp, I broke 4 stock axle studs with a stock motor and a 150 shot before, I'd say most I would go on a 1/2" stud would be 600-700 hp tops, but that's just my preference, anything after that I would be running 5/8"

Trust me guys, I am putting out no where near that power. Someday I'd like to run a 200 shot of N2. So probably won't see more than 700 rwhp. They still have the 12 mm x 1.5 studs. They have an 'M' stamped on the end of them. I am hoping they are chromoly studs. But thinking about upgrading them to ARP's just to be safe.

OK they are Moser Axles. I would get rid of the 12MM stuff and go 1/2" Minimum or 5/8" screw in studs. We can get you the studs. It will require the axle flange to be drilled and the 1/2" studs pressed in or Drilled and tapped for 5/8" studs. Any good machine shop can do this for a few bucks.
The 12MM crap is no good at the HP level you are shooting for. 1/2" is a bare minimum.
