If your car has the GU2 RPO code on the door, then yes, you will need a 2 series gear.

On the contrary, Richmond Gears are quite strong but they are noisey due to the materials the gear is built with. I have found the Motive Performance Gears to be the quitest but have also had a few that have made noise.

Since your car is a WS6 is should have 3.23's stock which is a 3 series rear end.

I went with Motive 3.73's when I changed gears.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing , but I am switching from 2.73 to stock gm 3.42 . I can get a 3 series auburn posi unit to replace my 2 series . My question is , will this be a lot more labor than just changing gears ? My car is a 98 and the other posi is from a 98 also . I already have the gears and can get the auburn 3 series for 85.00 .

Richmond are stronger and noisier while Motive are weaker but quieter... I have Richmond's and wish I would have went Motive.. I feel as if my 10 bolt may be on its way out though so that could be a contributing factor..

As far as series goes... if you're car came with 3.08 and below then you're a 2 series and if it was 3.23's and up then you're a 3

As mentioned above you would need a series 3 carries as you should have 3.23s now. Motives are the way to go. Seems there is more trouble with the 10 bolts in the M6 as compared to A4s. Less violent in the auto.

12 bolt is def. the way to go if you go strip and stickies
