Default How much gear oil for 9"

Finally got my 9" installed. How much gear oil do I put in?

fill it untill it starts to drip out the fill plug on the side. maybe 2-3.5 quarts, depending

around 3 1/2 quarts give or take.Congrats on the new rear.

mine took about 3.5qts. but this was a Fabbed 9"

I have almost 4 qts in and it hasn't started coming out the fill hole yet (my fill hole is about 2" from the top)

where is the hole on yours? on the third member or the housing itself? if it's on the housing near the top, you have way too much oil in there. it should take about 3.5 MAX if you're filling through the side port unless yours is brand new.

I installed my own fill plug and put it on back of the housing (the rounded part) about 2" from the top. I have about 3 3/4 quarts in.

I think you are over fill, I would open the plug on side of 3 rd member and allow to drain untill level with OE hole
