I see a 9" option but it's not very efficient...
The 12 bolt seems good..
But we used to BEAT THE LIVING **** out of the late 80's Mustangs and everything BUT the rearend would break!
Does anybody make a bolt in?
Thanks!

i went through 5 "T-5 " 5 speeds in 4 years in my 92 5.0 lx. the 302 never failed either. but that 8.8 never broke a sweat. 6500 holeshots all day everyday.
i wish theyd make a 8.8 for 4th gens.

8.8's are good rear ends my mustang has the stock 8.8 with 160,000 Miles on it, many 6k RPM drops on MT DR's with no problems, Im actually stunned it hasnt broke cause its been through hell.

Someone in texas I believe was supposed tro build some for the 4th gen's but he got the $ and kinda screwed over everyone. DOnt know all the details but I know a buncha people got screwed on 8.8s for the 4th gens. If I recal correctly it was a pretty close fit just needed to cut off the brackets and weld on the correct ones to mount to the 4th gen. The width was fairly close.

My understanding is they're lighter than the 9"...
and stronger than the 12 bolt.
They're also dirt cheap used but I would not want to fab it into place-- I'd want a done one...
I'd pay the same as for a 9" to not lose the hp or add weight.
BTW... What kinda numbers are the trminators putting down with straight axle (8.8) swaps???
1000-2000whp???
They hold up....
HEY AFTERMARKET..... THERE's A NEED HERE!!!!
I do not need to brag I have a 9" nor will I ever have the HP to justify it!!!

I don't want to fab one myself....
Maybe a vendor like Strange or Moser would see a market here if we spoke up and said the 8.8 might be another option as opposed to the 12" for EVERYBODY EXCEPT the hardcore racers putting down a number...

I believe he means by a waste of time as in trying to fab up a torque arm provision and making it to where it wont break. And by a waste of money, by the time you get done making a hybrid 8.8 you would have spend as much money as it would cost to buy a new 9in or s60
