97 Formula LT1 rear end ABS 3ch or 4ch?
Guys, Im buying a rebuilt rear end from a buddy out of his OE rear end on a 97 formula to an 02 LS1. MY LS1 actually is a 3 channel.
Anyone know on the formula the situation if its a 3 ch or 4 ch ABS?
(Im switching rear ends because the formulas is rebuilt w/ 3.73s to my 90k 3.42s which when I serviced it last discovered some metal.)

If the car has a traction control switch on the dash it has ABS/TCS, which is the four channel. This would have an exciter ring which looks like a sprocket, next to the brake at the axle by each tire. Bob

I just performed the same swap, a 97' Z rear end to a 99' Z.
Once you determine the 3 or 4 channel issue, make sure you are aware of the axle hub/wheel stud differences.
The LT1 axles apparently have a larger dia. hub and shorter wheel studs. Your LS1 rims will not mount properly on a LT1 axles without some modifications...
You can use the LS1 axles in an LT1 rear to correct these issues....The axle spline and length were the same.
I am not sure if these issues are universal to all, but definately applied to my situation.
