Unhappy Detroit Locker Making Me Crazy

Too much clunking! What posi units are available for a Moser 9" in 35 spline?

I have a bad feeling I'll have to change to 31 spline axles....

yeah i had to significantly change my driving habits when i installed mine. you are probably gonna have to drop down to 31's and a true trac. i dont think you'll have a problem with the 31's though, guys have gone real fast on them, not sure about the true trac though

if im not mistaken the s60 is the only setup with 35's and a posi

I absolutely love my locker and my camaro has just turned into my daily driver. I really don't even notice the clunking anymore. 35 splined axles you are either going to have to stay with the Locker or get a spool.

Just throw a spool in there and be done with it. They're way more "streetable" with a manual trans than a locker is. You won't even notice it's there with the exception of swinging into parking stalls and very tight corners.

Hell, I daily drive a Detroit Locker AND a faceplated t-56. It scares the **** out of everyone in the passenger seat as well as innocent bystanders. I swear I nearly gave the oldest woman alive heart failure a few weeks back. She was comming out of the store as I was lugging by and the car bucked!!

is it possible to canyon carve and do hard cornering with a locker? i drove my friend's car with one before and didn't like it but just wondering if you still could do all that handling stuff with one?

I guess you could but it's not gonna be fun or safe. You want a posi for all around good driving. If your only concerned with straight line then a spool or locker is the right choice.

I love my Locker. I hear that the 31 spline units like I have are a bit softer than the 35 spline units. Either way; I have piece of mind that short of Duramax torque and a dead hook I wil never have to worry about breaking a rear. And if you like to accelerate out of a corner; when the rear locks in you KNOW both tires are turning and there will not be any traction switching side to side. You can learn to drive hard out of corners in opposite lock . Or work on your suspension to decrease the power on oversteer.

You could try a thicker weight oil, maybe like a 85-140. That might take up the slop some.

It's out of the car and the 10 bolt is back in there

All I can do with this 3.25" carrier case is run a spool or a locker. Screw that! I'll sell this beastly center section...

Looks like I'll be getting a whole new fawking 3rd member and axles!

-Moser thru-bolt aluminum case (WITH 3.062 CARRIER BEARING!!!)
-31 spine Trutrac
-3.70 gear

I would like to stay with my Detroit Trutrac but axle options are limited to 31 spline which i am afraid that i will soon be twisting like the others i've seen on here..

Interested in a trade ShevrolayZ28?

I haven't seen any 31 spline axles twisted. Who twisted theirs? Thanks. Bob
